"Pay what you want" pricing

To allow your customers to name their own price for your product, open the product editor, go to the Product tab, and turn on Allow customers to pay what they want under the Amount field.

The Minimum amount shown next to the toggle is your product's Amount. It is displayed for reference and is not separately editable, so to change the lowest price a customer can pay, change the Amount field itself. For example, set the Amount to $3 and customers can pay $3 or more. Set the Amount to $0 and customers can pay nothing, but if they choose to pay, they have to pay at least $0.99 (USD).

Suggest a Price

You can also set a "suggested" price that Customers will see when entering their donation amount. Change this by typing your price in the Suggested Amount box, then Save changes to make these settings go live. The suggested amount has to be equal to or greater than the Amount.

Create a free product

There are two ways to make a product free on Gumroad:

1. You can use our PWYW feature: set the Amount to $0, which turns on pay what you want automatically, allowing customers to enter “0" for the price and access your product for free. If your product has versions that add to the price, the toggle is not turned on for you — turn on Allow customers to pay what they want yourself after setting the Amount to $0. Memberships are priced per tier rather than with a single Amount, so set a tier's price to $0 and that tier's own pay-what-you-want toggle turns on automatically.
2. You can send customers a 100% off discount code.

Note: You cannot price a product at $0 without the PWYW feature, and they have a lower file-size limit. We also don't take any fee on free product sales.
